TRY THIS AT HOME!
Hey, its Bourbon Bill here, at Bourbon Bill’s Pirate Bar. Today we are going to show you how to make the perfect Daiquiri cocktail. This Daiquiri recipe comes from the original source, the Bacardi Distillery. It’s refreshing and easy to make. See our our prohibition-era recipe showing how to make a perfect Daiquiri cocktail below.
The History of the Daiquiri cocktail
The Daiquiri was invented by Jennings Cox, an American mining engineer in 1896 and named after the Cuban town of Daiquiri. Cox had run out of Gin and “had to make do with Rum” as a remedy to ward off Malaria for his workers. The original recipe consisted of rum, lime and sugar. This is the prohibition-era recipe Facundo Bacardi (of the Bacardi Distillery) gave to the Cuban Tourism Board to attract American tourists to Cuba.
Later, Constantino Ribalagua invented the Frozen Daiquiri in 1912 at the La Florida Restaurant in Havana. The La Florida was also famous because it was a favorite haunt of Ernest Hemmingway. Hemmingway was know to only write 400-500 words a day because any more would interfere with his drinking!
